[35] Lunchtime Organ Recital

St Mary’s Parish Church: 12.15pm
Admission £3 (Patrons £1)

Edward Whiting was appointed Director of Music at St Mary’s, Calne in 2006, where he is responsible for all aspects of music at the school. Having been a chorister at Norwich Cathedral, Edward held Organ Scholarships at Lincoln and Wells Cathedrals and studied Music at The Queen’s College, Oxford. Last year his recital was an all-French programme. This year it will be an all-German programme, including Pachelbel, Bach, Brahms and Schumann and concluding with Liszt’s Prelude and Fugue.

Background music for the Art Exhibition will be played by local piano players.

[37] 'In the Footsteps of Shackleton'

“In the Footsteps of Shackleton” - An expedition to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica. The South Atlantic is steeped in the History of Polar Exploration, as well as some of the most remarkable wildlife on the Planet. Add the spectacular landscape and we have a presentation that will be of interest to a wide ranging audience, with some of the images having gained National and International awards.

Tea and cake to follow included in price.

[38] Lingmara

Marden House: 7.30pm

Lingmara is a world music community choir, based at The Cause in Chippenham. They are led by the irrepressible Elena Winch who ran a choir in New Zealand before coming back to the UK. They will be performing a wide range of music.

[39] Blue Lizard Kings

Lansdowne Strand Hotel: 8.00 - 11.00pm
Admission Free

This popular band, led by Tony Goldsmith on keyboard, perform their own special arrangements of Bluegrass, Irish ballads, Folk and popular classical songs ranging from the Beatles to Cara Dillon. Tony is joined by Nikki Mascel ( vocals) Paul Hartson ( guitar) and Frank Bradley ( violin).
