[20] Dauntsey Vale Chamber Group

Marden House: 12.15pm lunchtime recital
Admission: £3 (Patrons £1)

The Dauntsey Vale Chamber Group was formed in 2002 by Robin and Janet Foulkes. They perform occasional concerts, usually in support of charitable causes or for fundraising. They play a variety of music, not solely Baroque, and aim to increase their repertoire for every concert. They are based in North Wiltshire, around the M4 valley, between Marlborough and Chippenham and as far South as Devizes.

[21] Calne Silver Band & Chippenham Male Voice Choir

John Bentley School Hall: 7.30pm
Admission £7 (Patrons £5)

The Calne Silver Band will be joined in concert by the ever-popular Chippenham Male Voice Choir in a programme selected from their wide repertoire of light music.

[22] John Bentley School Play

John Bentley School Drama Studio: 7.30pm
Admission £3 (patrons £1)

JBS SchoolYear 12 Drama and Theatre Studies group present their adaptation of Alfred Bradley’s ‘Wizard Of Oz’. Be prepared for surprises as the plot unfolds. An enlarged Witch’s part creates a balance to the forces of good versus evil. Things are not as they seem as the unconscious Dorothy emerges from a whirlwind to meet a menagerie of characters.

[23] The Wooden O - Jazz Trio

Marden House : 7.30pm
Admission £8 (patrons £6)

James Harpham (piano)
Andrew Barrett (guitar)
Will Harris (double bass)

James Harpham’s new trio, performing tonight for the first time anywhere, takes a jazz leap into early music. The original Wooden O performed live in the Roundhouse, toured Europe and broadcast regularly on TV and on John Peel’s radio programme.

The New Wooden O explores the connections between jazz and early composers, whose use of modes and divisions etc gives us some amazing numbers to add to the jazz repertoire .

[24] Calne Baroque Players

Marden House : 9.30pm CODA
Admission Free

This year the Calne Baroque Players celebrate their quarter of a century, although only two of the present group are founder members. Whilst they play the music of many composers of the period, they have a particular fondness for relatively unknown contemporaries of Frederick the Great of Prussia in eighteenth-century Berlin.
