In this recital of music for trombone and piano, Dr. Mike Lomas, trombone tutor at Winchester, Marlborough College and Dauntsey’s School, is joined by Anna Roberts (piano), who is a well-established favourite on the local music scene. The programme will feature music from five centuries of musical history, from Frescobaldi to Woolfenden, and will include an arrangement of Brahms’s ‘Four Serious Songs’, as well as pieces by Albeniz, Ropartz, Tartini and Cole Porter.

Devizes Writers’ Group includes both published and amateur writers, who meet monthly to share ‘homework’ written to a set title. ‘Pig in the Middle’ stories have been written specially for the Festival, and will be read by their authors, alongside a variety of other pieces.
Tea and cakes will be served.

Calne clarinettist Simon Parker returns with Simon Trentham, ‘cello and Bath based pianist Shelley Prior. Their varied programme includes Schumann’s enchanting Fairy Tales Op.132, trios by Beethoven, Bruch and Zemlinsky, and two works by the Wiltshire composer David Fanshawe; Serenata (Mother and Child) and The Awakening which draws inspiration from pan-pipes of the Solomon Islands. Other works by David Fanshawe will be performed later in the Festival by the St Mary’s Calne Chamber Choir and Lingmara. |

Bel Canto are a group of 4 sopranos from Calne Choral Society - Emmy Butcher, Giselle Parker-Hadfield, Liz Vaughan and Sarah Hobbs. They regularly sing a wide range of music at local events and are accompanied by Mary Pilcher-Clayton.
