Introduction
Welcome to the 2010 Festival. Every year we enjoy our ten days of music and art and in no time, it seems, we are looking with anticipation at the programme for another year. The Festival has become such an important part of Calne’s life that October is always a month to look forward to.
This year the Committee have again produced a very varied and interesting programme. In 2009 we particularly enjoyed the contribution of younger people and this year they again have a prominent role, with Tuesday 5th October a full young performers’ day. Their contribution is not confined to that day or to music as on Wednesday the John Bentley School’s play will be performed, one of several spoken word events.
While classical music is at the heart of the programme there is a great variety of other events. As well as the customary and important Art Exhibition in Marden House there will be photographs and poetry in the Heritage Centre and such diverse events as a Barn Dance and, back by popular demand, an Old Time Music Hall: in fact, something for everybody.
As always, our thanks go to the Committee for their untiring work in creating this week of treats for us and to all performers and artists for their contributions.
Don’t miss it!
