Event 20 - Classics for Kids with the Topaz Duo

10.30am - Marden House - Admission £3 (£2 Friends; £1 Child)

Michelle Krawiec and Julia Hammersley have been performing together for over ten years at events, weddings and in recitals. Both are principal players with Brunel Sinfonia, Bristol Classical Players and Bristol Opera. Playing flute and harp, the Topaz Duo enjoy performing at children’s concerts and in schools, and take a special interest in reaching out and inspiring young people. They will perform a variety of music and bring small harps so children can have a go.

 

Event 21 - Pupils Concert and Poetry Prizes

3.00pm - Marden House - Admission £3 (Friends Free; £1 Child)

Calne has a thriving culture of music teaching and this afternoon’s concert will feature some of the students of local teachers. You will hear youngsters at various stages on their musical journey playing a variety of instruments. The concert will end with the presentation of prizes to the winners of the Children’s Poetry Competition who will also read out their poems

 

Event 22 - Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society

7.30pm - Marden House - Admission £8 (£6 Friends; £1 Child)

The Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society can trace its origins back to a Youth Centre Choir in 1964, moving to the Swindon Playhouse in 1969, the Wyvern Theatre in 1972 and ultimately the Arts Centre in 2013. Their most recent production in April of this year was the Yeomen of the Guard and they will be performing The Pirates of Penzance in April 2018. Tonight, they will be performing excerpts from The Sorcerer, HMS Pinafore, Princess Ida, Iolanthe, The Pirates of Penzance, Patience, Mikado, Ruddigore, The Yeoman of the Guard, and The Gondoliers.

 

Festival Club - Marden House

The wine bar at Marden House  is open before evening events and for interval drinks. Coffee and cakes are also available on weekday evenings after the main event, but owing to licensing laws we shall be unable to serve alcoholic drinks on the Monday evening. Light lunches are served following the weekday lunchtime concerts in Marden House. Why not also come and enjoy a late Coda event in a relaxed atmosphere.
