Event 15 - Primary School Choirs

12.15pm - The John Bentley School - Admission £3 (Friends Free; £1 Child)

As Sir Elton John reaches his 70th birthday the Calne Music and Arts Festival bring together a primary school choir of over 150 students to celebrate one of the UK’s most successful musicians of these last 50 years. Sir Elton grew from struggling songwriter to international superstar in a matter of a few years at the start of his career and has provided the soundtrack for so many of our lives. He has developed into a composer for the West End and Disney films and this concert is sure to have something for everyone.

 

Event 16 - St Mary's School Music Department

7.30pm - Marden House - Admission £7 (£5 Friends; £1 Child))

Junior girls from the school will perform their favourite vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles in a variety of styles from the baroque era to the twentieth century, from the Western Classical to popular music and musical theatre traditions. The second half of the evening, “Reflections”, will be performed by instrumental teachers from the school’s music department. With music by Schumann, Reade, Voight, Mozart and Low Shao Ying, their programme will provide the perfect mood to relax with a glass of wine! Performers will include Allen Cheshire (horn), Simon Parker (clarinet) and Robert Willington (piano)

 

Event 17 - Amy Walters: Singer Song Writer

9.30pm CODA - Marden House - Admission Free

Fat, grey-haired feminist, Amy Walters, finally found her voice aged thirty-seven. Now she makes music that reflects the human experience of "not quite fitting in the way women are supposed to." A multi-instrumentalist of average ability and above average honesty, Amy takes you on a guided tour through her mind as she explores themes of rage, love, anxiety and mental health.
