24 - Karl Jenkins' Requiem

Calne Choral and St Mary's School Consort

7.30pm - St Mary's School - Admission £10 (£8 Friends; £1 children)

Especially for the Festival, the thriving Calne Choral Society will be joined by students of St Mary's School Junior Consort in a performance of Karl Jenkins’ Requiem. Jenkins has uniquely introduced five Japanese haiku poems on mortality and exotic Japanese orchestral colour to the more familiar requiem mass setting. With strong melodic writing this has become one of Jenkins most popular works. It is being performed in Calne for the first time, and is not to be missed.
