3 - Crazy Classics for Children

10.30am - Marden House - Admission Free

.An introduction to classical music for young children given by local musicians including Laurence Davies (French horn) and Sian McInally (violin): interactive, fun, relaxed, informal, a bit crazy. The children get to sing, dance, join in and hear the instruments and don't have to sit still for the whole thing. Music will include Copland’s 'I Bought me a Cat', so making animal sounds will feature strongly. The musicians, who also include Millie Davies on cello, Helen Davies on piano, Edward Davies on violin, plus Michelle Sheridan-Grant, soprano, will show us how the instruments work. Laurence and Sian, who live in Calne, both perform with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Guaranteed to be enjoyable for parents too. There will be cake!

4 - Treasures of St Peter’s Church

2.00pm - St Peter’s Church, Blackland - Admission Free

.A representative of the National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Society discusses some of the Society’s findings following their recent inventory and inspection of everything within St Peter’s Church, Blackland, which dates back to the time of Domesday Book. This will also tell the story of how and why the NADFAS recording came about. A chance to hear about unique historical artefacts in our own locality.

5 - Music Deco

7.30pm - Marden House - Admission £8 (£6 Friends; £1 children)

Music Deco delights in the rhythm, romance and evocative style of one of the most exciting time of popular music, the 1920s to the 1940s. Kate Walker (vocals) and Andrew Daldorph (keyboard) will join renowned jazz saxophonist Chris Gradwell in conjuring the very essence of the Deco Period and providing an evening of not just jazz or light music, but some of each, with a little comedy and smoky night club atmosphere thrown in as well. Think of Bix Beiderbecke, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and many, many more familiar names from those decades. Music Deco performs a variety of melodies, some instantly recognisable, some less familiar, but all leaving you with an evening warmly remembered.
