Calne Music and Arts Festival 2015

A welcome from the President

This year, in which we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we are honoured to have Judith Weir, Master of the Queen’s Music, as Patron of Calne Music and Arts Festival. Judith, who was Composer in Residence at the 1977 Festival, still takes a keen interest in the town and will return again this year. To quote Judith, ‘It is great to see this home-grown event thriving even more than I could have imagined. They have clearly discovered that the key to a good festival is quality artistic events with a local handle'. Judith Weir’s Music for 247 Strings will be performed at the Festival (13) and Judith with be contributing to the evening with David White (23).

For 40 years the Festival has continued, through the hard work during the year of the various committees, the many dedicated volunteers who give their time during Festival week, and the support of local schools, choirs, musicians and artists. Calne is indeed a culturally rich town.

We are pleased to announce that Chilvester Financial have become the main sponsor of our Festival. Sponsorship has also been received from other local companies for specific days or events. We are indeed most grateful to these local companies for showing their commitment to promoting the Festival to the wider community and to recognising the local aspect of our ethos towards the Arts.

We very much look forward to sharing with you this wealth of music and art and hope that you will enjoy the quality and diversity of the events planned.

Carole Browne CMAF President

The Festival AGM will be held in Marden House on Tuesday 19th January at 7.30pm. Hopefully as many Festival Friends as possible will attend and a warm welcome is extended to all newcomers. Following the meeting there will be wine, refreshments and time to chat with members of the Committee and exchange ideas.
