04 - Lunchtime Series

Organ Recital: David Bevan - St Mary's Church: Admission £3 (friends free)

David Bevan is the resident organist at St Mary’s Church and will once again be thrilling us with his varied programme of organ music.


05 - Wiltshire Young Carers - Listen to Us 2

3.00pm - Town Hall, Calne: Admission free

Led by Bath Philharmonia Artistic Director Jason Thornton, “Listen To Us 2” involves professional musicians, community music undergraduates from Bath Spa University, music students from Wiltshire College, local music partners, and the Wiltshire Young Carers service working with young carers, aged from 5 years to 24 years, to create a live performance of a specially-devised piece of music.

A young carer has significant responsibilities for caring for a seriously ill or disabled family member. Their music is passionate, moving, funny, thought-provoking, raw, deeply inspiring, and of exceptional quality


06 - Avebury Vocal Ensemble

7.30pm - St Mary's Church: Admission £8 (£6 friends)

Formed in 2000, Avebury Vocal Ensemble is a chamber choir of about 30 singers who reside in North Wiltshire. Its members perform a wide repertoire of sacred and classical music, both accompanied and a cappella.

Their Festival programme will include Pergolesi's Magnificat, Lift Up Your Heads by Mathias, Ave Maria and Oculi Mei, both by Rizza, and finish with Vivaldi's famous Gloria. All accompanied by a small chamber orchestra plus an organ continuo.

This event is supporting SSAFA, the national armed forces charity.


07 - The Yirdbards

7.30pm - Marden House: Admission £8 (£6 friends)

An evening of melodic and atmospheric music to feed the soul. The Yirdbards are a local group of musicians who will perform a selection of moving songs about the world around us and our relationship with it. Many of these are written by local writers who are personal friends of the band. These songs will be interspersed with traditional English dance tunes.

Paul Darby (vocal & guitar), Verity Sharp (‘cello, violin & vocals), Patrick Randall (guitar, mandola & vocals) and Iona Hassan (violin).
