02 - Opening of the Festival

"The merriest fellows are we...”

An evening of Gilbert and Sullivan

7.30pm - Marden House: Admission £8 (£6 friends)

Policemen, pirates, peers, fairies, jesters, sorcerers and more feature in WS Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan's ever-green light operas.  Join us, the Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society, for an evening of satire, comedy, and romance that draws from many of their popular shows.

Since 1969 the Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society have been performing their works to audiences in and around Swindon and beyond.  The society consists of an enthusiastic and talented pool of people of all ages who pride themselves on bringing these works to life for modern audiences.


03 - Irish Folk Music Session

9.00pm - The White Hart, The Green,Calne: Admission free

.A group of well-known fiddlers and musicians from the Old Road Tavern in Chippenham, led by Torquil McInnes will be in session from 9pm onwards.

Local musicians are welcome to bring their instruments and join them in making music, or just come along to listen and sing all the favourites over a pint in a friendly atmosphere. Several of the group are part of the Chippenham Morris Dancers and have  performed in Larkrise to Candleford


Festival Club, Marden House

The wine bar is open before evening events and for interval drinks. Coffee and cakes are also available on weekday evenings after the main event. Unfortunately, owing to licensing laws we shall be unable to serve alcoholic drinks on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Light lunches are served following the weekday lunchtime concerts.
